. What are smart objects?

___ Smart objects are "Layers/Levels" that allow you to edit/modify Raw files (images, shapes, graphics) and still keep the original files clean. For example if you modify the shape or size of an image that is inserted in a smart object, the image inside remains clean with the original shape/size. Here is an small tutorial for Photoshop CS3.
